Peter Stevens 15/02/1943 - 04/02/2024
Kitty Fisher has always been, and remains, a small family concern, co-founded by husband and wife Peter and Ruth Stevens. We are extremely sad to have to let you know that Peter passed away in February 2024 after a very short illness. Making an excellent team, Peter was our brilliant business expert and finance and administrative specialist, and Ruth the designer and maker of all our beautiful products. They have always been pleased and proud to have called many of their customers and suppliers friends over the years and we know that Peter will be very much missed by everyone....
Introducing our new Lace Handkerchief
We are really sad to announce that the Princess Diana Handkerchief has now had to be discontinued as the lace that was made for edging Diana's bridal train and bodice in 1981 has finally been used up. Thank you for everyone who now owns one of these special pieces. We have now found some vintage lace in our stock rooms which we think maybe a fitting replacement for the Princess Diana Handkerchief. Kitty Fisher and Nottingham Lace: I want to tell the world!
You may have already read the piece on Ruth and experienced the skill, pedigree and design finesse she brings to Kitty Fisher but there is really much more to it than that. Our story really starts in 1983 after the birth of our daughter and, seeing the decline of the Nottingham Lace industry, Ruth decided to try and keep some of the traditional skills of using lace alive. Throughout the 1980's and 90's lace production faltered in Nottingham and, as lace producers finished, we bought up stock for our archives.
