Before the Queen’s visit to the U.S.A. in 1991 we were asked to submit a range of handkerchiefs that may be appropriate as a traditional lace gift for lady guests invited to functions on the Royal Yacht Britannia. Obviously a traditional British made gift was to be given to all ladies present and we designed the handkerchiefs which were given in a presentation box incorporating the white and gold decoration of Britannia’s stateroom.
The gifts were presented during dinner and guests were treated to a short cruise along the Florida coast. As designers of the gifts we were invited to attend but passed the invitation to our American representatives, but some years later we were invited to a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace as recognition for our export performance.
This handkerchief is still made today and is available as the Queen’s Handkerchief (HF109) on our website.
